Y7 rugby: Newquay Tretherras v Fowey

Match Report: 16th October 2012

By Sam, Year 7 match reporter

Home-side Newquay kicked off  with a strong lead from the start as the team were very good at rucking and ball-handling, and after five minutes they scored their first try but they missed the conversion. Fowey took possession of the ball, but didn’t score, then Newquay reclaimed the ball from a good ruck. Following lots of good ball play from both sides, Newquay then scored a second try in the first half.

Fowey kicked off the second half, but Newquay proved better at tackling and took the ball to the line, scoring again. Fowey secured a scrum at the 5-metre line, then won the scrum and scored a try, followed by the conversion.

After some tactical play by Fowey, notably by Callum, another try and conversion were taken in the last five minutes.

Fowey and Newquay were good well-balanced teams and both enjoyed a challenging match.

Final score: Newquay Tretherras 19, Fowey 14
