Year 7 rugby: Fowey v Penrice

By Sam, Year 7 Match Reporter

Fowey’s first home game of the season was a return game with Penrice on 24th October. Both schools had a fantastic turn out and were able to play two teams.

Penrice kicked off and pushed Fowey back to the line but after some great tackles and solid rucking, Fowey took control of the ball and worked their way up the pitch with Tristan reaching the try line and placing the ball down to score the first try, followed by a successful conversion by Tom.

Both teams then engaged in some very good attacking and defensive play towards the end of the first half.

As the second half kicked off, Penrice took control of the ball and equalised. Fowey soon picked themselves up and drove the ball to the try line, and Calum scored. Fowey gained control of the ball again with some tactical play, charging up the pitch with another try and conversion.

Penrice came back with strong passing out to the wing, breaking through Fowey’s defence to score. In the last five minutes Fowey broke back with the fourth and final try of the match and a great win.

This match was Fowey’s best game so far, with outstanding rucking and tactical team play. Well done to both teams and thanks to Penrice for a great game.

Final score: Fowey 24, Penrice 12
