The Mid-Cornwall Schools Surf Competition took place on 26th October at Fistral beach in Newquay and featured teams from Fowey, The Roseland & Poltair. Sports Leaders from Fowey Community College helped to run the event.
The competition, organised by the Mid-Cornwall Sports Network and run by Gwithian Academy of Surf, was open to all schools in the local area with avid surfers in their student body. Over 30 students entered in total across four categories: Body Boarding, U16 Boys Surfing, Under 14 Boys Surfing, and Girls Surfing. The overall winner was The Roseland School.
Emma Moore, School Sport Network Manager, said: “The surf was not fantastic but students still showed their skills and dedication to surfing. The young people, both participants and leaders, were a real credit to their schools. We look forward to hosting this event again next year.”
