Fine dining

It was a glamorous afternoon for 25 Year 10 ladies when they attended Fowey Hall Hotel for a lesson in fine dining from Restaurant Manager Ben Fagan and and Duty Manager Cherish Rothwell, both former Fowey students.

This is one of the final sessions of the Ladette to Lady course, the brainchild of Miss Munro and Mrs Fletcher. Other lessons have included deportment (including how to walk in heels)and elocution; in May there will be a visit to Cornwall Pearl, which specialises in Pearl jewellery.

Miss Munro said: “We’re always delighted to work with our neighbours at Fowey Hall Hotel, who as always put on a fantastic, well-planned lesson for our students, and we would like to say a big thank you to Ben and Cherish for giving up their time and putting so much energy into ensuring our ladies had a great time learning new skills today.”

Our students were rewarded with afternoon tea, including cucumber sandwiches and saffron cake, following their efforts in napkin-folding and setting a table.

Fowey Hall’s Events Manager, Mel Brown, said: “We’re always delighted to support the local community here in Fowey and we really enjoy putting on these lessons for the girls and boys at the school.”
