Students open Fowey Festival

Fowey Community College’s dance, drama and music students combined forces with pupils from Fowey, Lostwithiel and Polruan Primary Schools to open the 2013 Fowey Festival with a Schools Concert.

The theme this year was the poetry of celebrated Cornish poet Charles Causley, which the students from Years 4 to 10 developed into a series of interpretations for the stage to wow the audience in the main festival marquee.

“The students have really enjoyed working on different aspects of Causley’s poetry and working alongside different schools,” said Miss Giles, Head of Expressive Arts. “The students have combined music, drama, dance, video and poetry together in a performance which mirrors the varied tone and pace of Causley’s poetry. It’s fantastic to have such great raw material to work with.”
