Black holes lecture

On 19th June we were delighted to be joined by former student Dan Evans Ph.D, who is the Program Director for the Division of Astronomical Sciences at the National Science Foundation in the USA and an Astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.

Dan studied at FCC in the 1990s, studying four A Levels at Truro College before attending Durham University to study Physics and Bristol University for his Ph.D.

Dan has appeared on The Discovery Channel, The History Channel and the news discussing his area of expertise – black holes. Dan was in Cornwall for a few days following a visit to Grenada to present at a conference. He was delighted to drop by and visit his old school, and teachers Mr Dawes, Mr Hales and Mr Yelland.

Dan presented for an hour to a packed classroom of GCSE Astronomy students and students from Years 7 to 10 who requested to attend the lecture. Thanks to Omar and Marco for some excellent questions.
