Updates: Ofsted & Academy Conversion
It has been a very busy half term regarding both Ofsted and the proposal for the school to become an academy.
You will know that we had an Ofsted inspection this week. The full report will be published in the next few weeks, and until then the outcome of the inspection must remain confidential. However, it is fair to say that we are very pleased with the way the inspection went and the students and staff deserve to be very proud. Thank you to everyone who responded to the parent survey and we shall let you know more details as soon as we are able to do so.
The consultation process is well underway, giving you, your children, staff and the wider community the opportunity to offer comments and views on the proposed conversion of the school to academy status.
We would like to thank everyone who attended the meetings on 19th March. If you haven’t yet completed a questionnaire and would like to, you can find Frequently Asked Questions and a questionnaire at www.fowey.schoolconsultation.org.uk or get a printed copy from school reception. There is also a link to the site via the school website.
This consultation period ends on 27th April and a report will then be presented to the Department for Education, who will consider this before making a decision about whether the conversion goes ahead. The scheduled date for the conversion, if subsequently approved, is 1st June.
All the comments and questions received via the questionnaire will be compiled when the consultation period closes, and we will respond to your questions and comments after this date. We will keep you informed throughout this process.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions in the meantime.
