Eight Year 10 Student’s on the Alternative Curriculum programme have been given an amazing opportunity to complete a 7 week programme of creative arts. The work they carry out will lead to them receiving an Arts Award. The biggest part of the programme is for the students to design and build a sculpture for the entrance of the school, but they will also work with Nick Brennan a cartoonist from the Dandy and Beano and a professional photographer.
WEEK ONE – Diary entry
In the afternoon we were lucky enough to work with Nick Brennan – a cartoonist from the famous Beano and Dandy. Nick taught everyone the art of cartooning. Firstly teaching expression techniques and moving on to ‘creating a cartoon character’ of their own. Everyone learnt so much and it was amazing to see how well the cartoons came out.
A quote from Nick “he really enjoyed working with the students and told them to remember – Its all for fun’.
