Through the recent Young Enterprise scheme, pupils from Year 10 were fortunate to attend a lunch at Treviglas College hosted by Terry Waite CBE.
Terry Waite made the headlines when he was the Assistant for Anglican Communion Affairs for the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie, in the 1980s. As an envoy for the Church of England, he travelled to Lebanon to try to secure the release of four hostages. He was himself kidnapped and held captive from 1987 to 1991.
Waite is the President of the charity Emmaus which was supported and promoted by the Academy’s Young Enterprise team Fishy Feet.
What an opportunity for our pupils to meet such an incredible man.
