Fowey Sports Hub – update
We originally envisaged being able to re-open the Sports Hub by the end of June. However, our review of the premises highlighted a number of issues which needed to be addressed before we could open the Hub again to members of the public. As we explained in our update letter in June, in order to be compliant with safeguarding regulations we needed to install a fob style entry system to the Hub to ensure the entry and exit of members can be monitored and managed appropriately. This work has been completed.
In addition, again for safeguarding reasons due to the Sports Hub sharing a site with Fowey River Academy, we have reviewed the opening hours of the Sports Hub. In order to offer early morning opening – something which has been requested by members – we have undertaken a process of consultation with all the employees of the Hub. Once complete, we then recruited the extra staff necessary to cover the new shift patterns. Unfortunately, due to the subsequent resignation of more than one staff member, we are now in a situation where we need to advertise to fill these positions, which is causing more delay to the opening.
We are aware how much members are looking forward to using the Sports Hub again and we are doing our utmost to get the centre open again as soon as possible. We are currently on track to reopen towards the end of September and we will get back in touch with members nearer that time to confirm.
