Molly Winch, Year 11, is doing a sponsored 21 mile swim for the world’s leading type 1 diabetes charity, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The challenge began on Monday 9th January. She has a ‘Just Giving’ page if you would like to check it out – www.justgiving.com/MollyWinch. Molly has already raised an amazing £140. Molly has had type 1 diabetes for nearly seven years and is committed to help fund-raise to find a cure that affects 400,000 people in the UK with over 29,000 of them children. People can’t help having type 1 diabetes and have to rely on daily multiple injections of insulin or wear an insulin pump. Money raised from fundraising activities, like Molly is doing, goes to important research into finding a cure for type 1 diabetes so that one day there will be no need for injections.
Last term Molly also became the 15 years and over County champion for synchronised swimming. She is a keen member of the St. Austell synchronised swimming club.
